I didn't set out to build a French school. I set out, in my twenties, to understand how adults actually learn, adapt, and change. I hold a Master's in Social and Organizational Psychology, spent six years reading humans as a recruiter, and tutored Neuropsychology and Social Psychology students along the way. The science of learning has been my real subject for a long time.

French came later. Friends and colleagues in Berlin kept asking me to teach them, because nothing they had tried worked. I eventually said yes, built a method around what psychology actually says about adult memory and motivation, and I haven't looked back since.

I built Le French Please for the adult who is tired of being talked down to. No streaks. No confetti. Just a serious, structured method for people who want to actually speak.

Yes. My 1:1 lessons are designed for adults who start from zero and want to learn properly. You don't need to know a single word of French. We build a solid foundation from the ground up, at a pace that respects your goals and your schedule. The same applies to the upcoming self-paced course, which begins at A0 and is designed for absolute beginners.

Apps teach you to recognize patterns and tap the right answer. My method teaches you to produce language and think directly in French, with no English middle step. Every lesson is built on what research on adult memory and motivation actually shows. You get real correction, real feedback, and a structure that respects your intelligence as an adult learner. For most adult learners, one to two sessions per week works very well. The frequency matters less than what you do between sessions. The method is designed so that an hour of class produces hours of useful practice afterwards, with the right structure. We adjust the pace to your real life, not the other way around.

Adults who want to be taken seriously as learners. Typically 30 and up, but age is not the criterion. If you've tried apps or generic courses and walked away frustrated, if you want a method grounded in how your brain actually works, if you'd rather do something real for thirty minutes than something fake for two hours, you are in the right place. If you want a game with badges and confetti, this isn't it.

September 2026, with a founding cohort capped at 30 students. Waitlist members get priority access and founding cohort pricing (about 35% below the future full price). A second cohort opens in December 2026 at a smaller discount (about 15% off, framed as a counter-cultural holiday offer, most courses raise prices for the holidays, this one lowers them). Life happens. You can reschedule any lesson with 24 hours notice at no charge. Consistency matters more than rigidity, and I'd rather you reschedule than burn out.

For 1:1 sessions, just a computer or tablet with a camera, a stable internet connection, and Google Meet (free). I provide all the learning materials. No textbooks to buy, no extra subscriptions, no hidden costs. And one thing I'll always recommend: a real notebook and a pen. Handwriting consolidates memory in ways typing simply does not.
